After long debates on where the air-rail station should be located – above ground, unerdground, near the terminal, further away the terminal and so on – new suggestions have arisen, this time from within the Washington Metropolitan Airport Authority (WMAA).

The irony of the Financial Times carrying a report calling for more air capacity in the south-east (“CAA adds to pressure for new south-east runways”- 10 Jan) on the day the Secretary for State for Transport announced the go-ahead for HS2, should not go unnoticed. In fact, what is needed is capacity for the south east, and not in the South East.
