Record year for Arlanda Express

Arlanda Express reported a profit of SEK 130 million (EUR 15m) before tax for 2011 (SEK 56 million, or EUR 6.4m for 2010). Sales rose to SEK 627 million (EUR 71m) (SEK 546 million or EUR 62m). The number of passengers increased from 2.9 million to 3.3 million. Including those who travelled on the Arlandabanan line with other train operators, the number of passengers, who used the line in 2011, totalled 4.5 million.
“2011 was a fantastic year for Arlanda Express,” says Per Thorstenson, CEO. “All seven of our ‘Trains of the Future’ were rolled out, more and more passengers chose to travel with us and we achieved very strong financial results. We are particularly pleased about the increased proportion of private passengers and the very high level of customer satisfaction.”
Highlights of 2011
- Arlanda Express had the most satisfied customers of all passenger transport companies in Greater Stockholm for the fourth consecutive year (survey company ISI Wissing).
- For the tenth consecutive year, Arlanda Express was Sweden’s most punctual train operator (the Swedish Transport Administration).
- “The Train of the Future” (Framtidståget) won the Red Dot Design Award for best product design.
- “The Train of the Future” won the Global AirRail Award for best project of the year among express trains to and from an airport.
“We will continue to attract more private passengers to the express train with the help of our special offers, such as our weekend ticket,” says Per Thorstenson, CEO of Arlanda Express. “Last year, one in two of our passengers travelled at discounted prices.”
