Passengers boarding the express rail service heading to KLIA can now experience a faster and more convenient way to pay for their fare with the cashless payment service. The Touch ‘n Go electronic payment system is the biggest multi-application e-purse in Malaysia specialising in providing convenience for toll fare payment at all tolled highways and public transport operations in the country.
Touch ‘n Go - enabled fare payment for ERL kicked off on 8 August 2011 and at the moment is currently available only for the Express Line to and from Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Passengers for ERL Transit Line will be able to use Touch ‘n Go at all stations once the implementation of the project is completed in mid December 2011.
The service was made official with the signing of Memorandum of Understanding. The MoU was signed by TNGSB Chief Executive Officer, Encik Abdul Karim Md Lassim and ERL Chief Executive Officer, Puan Noormah Mohd. Noor. The signing was witnessed by Yang Berhormat Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Syed Hamid Albar, the Chairman of Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD).
“We are glad that the collaboration between Touch ‘n Go and ERL finally comes to a point of realisation, and hoping this mutual partnership will benefit both of our customers with convenience. Boarding the ERL will be an easy breezy experience for passengers, without worrying about the queues or spare cash. The overall experience for passengers of ERL will be improved, with the faster and more convenient alternative”, said Abdul Karim Md Lassim, CEO of TNGSB.
Noormah Mohd Noor, Chief Executive Officer of ERLSB, said, “Touch ‘n Go provides yet another payment option to our passengers taking our train services. It reduces the dependency on cash and offers the convenience of quick and secure boarding. As there is no need for separate tickets, this also becomes an environmentally friendly initiative that further supports our Go Green, Go Lo-Co2 cause.”
