Pre-Qualification bids invited for the Navi Mumbai Metro Rail Project

The master plan of the Metro Rail Project, prepared by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), identified six rail corridors:
  1. Uran-Ranjanpada-Nerul (28.3 km)
  2. Belapur-Kharghar-Taloje-Kalamboli-Khandeshwar-New Airport (21 km)
  3. Vashi-Nerul-Panvel (25 km)
  4. Ranjanpada-Kharkopar-Seawoods (14 km)
  5. Dighe-Turbhe-Belapur (20 km)
  6. Vashi-Ghansoli-Mhape (9 km)
It was decided to start the Metro Rail Project with the Belapur-Kharghar-Taloje-Kalamboli-Khandeshwar corridor with a later extension to the future Navi Mumbai Airport.

The Phase-I will see the construction of Belapur-Taloje (10.79 km) section with 10 railway stations.

Phase-II will extent from Taloje to Khandeshwar (8.15 km) and have 7 railway stations.

Under Phase-III, two corridors shall be joined together between Pendhar and MIDC by a link of 2.2 km. This link will form a loop from Belapur to Khandeshwar.

The Navi Mumbai Airport is proposed to be developed through public-private participation in which CIDCO/AAI will hold 26% equity and rest will be held by private developer to be raised through public bidding.
