According to him, the minimal period required for the construction of the air-rail links is two years.

"The airport express train won't be built before EURO-2012. We have one year and four months before the championship, whereas two years of works is required under the most optimistic plan," he said.

"The Air Express project will be realised within two years by all means."

Minister added that Ukraine has not provided state guarantees under a credit from the Chinese side for the project.

On 2nd September 2010 the Boryspil Airport reached an agreement with the CMCEC Company (China) on construction of the air-rail link. The Chinese company intends to finance the project.

According to the Independent Parliamentary Deputy Oleh Malych, UAH 4.6 billion ($579 m) is necessary for construction of the railway line itself while the cost of the remaining part of the project is estimated at UAH 2.6 billion ($327 m).
