World class airport rail link in Vladivostok by 2012

The President of RZD Russian Railways, Vladimir Yakunin said that the main part of the design and suvery works in the construction area has been completed and all necessary site investigations have been carried out. According to him, in order to run the high speed trains, the modernisation of the whole infrastructure is needed.

When finished, it will take 48 minutes to travel on the high speed train from Vladivostok to the International Passenger Terminal at Knevichi Airport. As part of the project, the passenger rail terminal in Vladivostok will be also modernised.

The Primorsky Territory Governor, Sergey Darkin stressed, that they will use the best-practice and latest technologies to create a world-class airport rail service.

“Creating intermodal travel, we will use the latest technologies and innovations to create passenger convenience. The air travellers should have a choice to drop of their luggage already at the Vladivostok railway station and undergo check-in procedures.”

The Governor also initiated additional stop at Arteme to improve commuter travel in the region.

“The railway line will provide the high-speed transportation between Artem and Vladivostok. It will give the residents of the suburbs the chance to get to work in the Primorye capital city faster and with more comfort; besides they can visit cultural and sports events,” stressed Darkin.
