The new unit would conduct a study on how the system would benefit commuters in terms of convenience and savings, while at the same time, ensure that the participating service operators get fair benefits, the local newspaper The Nation announced.

The joint-ticketing system will be created for the Skytrain, subway, Airport Rail Link, Purple Line mass transit system and Bangkok Mass Transit Authority public buses.

The Office is contemplating to ask the Asian Development Bank for funding to set up the unit. The bank will also send over an expert to help the office examine details and specifications of the clearinghouse system.
