Seattle-Tacoma International Airport invites Mariner fans to ‘go green to the ballpark’ with an announcement that they will be offering half price, or $2 per hour, parking discount for those who take Link Light Rail to see the baseball games. “Terminal Direct parking at Sea-Tac Airport offers the most convenient access to the airport terminal and quick connection to Link Light Rail. You'll park on the 4th floor of the airport garage, an easy walk to the pedestrian bridge leading to the SeaTac/Airport station”, says the airport announcement.

The programme will apply during the Mariners opening homestand 12 – 21 April, with the discounted parking available for up to eight hours.

The Link Light Rail then will bring the baseball fans directly to Stadium Station, a walking distance away from the Safeco Field.

"We're excited to give folks the opportunity to be green and avoid parking hassles down at the ballpark," says Sea-Tac spokesperson Perry Cooper.

Fans riding Link to the game will be able to skip any post-game ticket lines by purchasing a round trip ticket ahead of time or by using an ORCA card from any ticket vending machine before boarding. The round trip fare from SeaTac/Airport station on Link Light Rail to the Stadium station is $5.

According to the local press, the newly-constructed Airport Station opened in December and ever since the Port has been trying to find ways to leverage their new-found transit access.

Parking is the number one non-aeronautical revenue source for the publicly-owned airport, accounting for a 53.3 percent of Sea-Tac profits.

In addition to these nine Mariners games, the Port is also considering discounts for Sounders and Seahawks games, as well as for major concerts.
