Warsaw airport rail link choses the local train supplier
| The order is part of the programme to improve passenger transport infrastructure for the 2012 European Football Championship to be held in Poland. The company will deliver high capacity 13 low-floor electric multiple units ELF that will be used for the rail line between Warsaw city and Frederick Chopin Airport, which is to be linked to the SKM network by a 1.6 km branch now under construction. The trains will run from the airport station every fifteen minutes with a journey time to the city centre of 20 minutes. |

New railway station at the Chopin Airport is located in the immediate vicinity of the passenger terminals, which will provide a direct pedestrian communication between the stations.

According to the company, all vehicles will be over 107 m long, which makes them the longest electric multiple units in Poland. Each 6-car unit will be capable of transporting 900 passengers. The floors will be adjusted to the station platform to provide the passenger convenience of ‘no-step’ boarding. Trains will be designed with special space for luggage, wheelchairs and bicycles. |
