Bangkok Airport Rail Link to serve second Airport

The Commission also agreed that Don Muang Airport will be used as Bangkok's second airport. This former international hub has recently reopened following renovation.
The SRT has hired the German based Deutsche Bahn International as its operation & training advisor, and as contracted operator until the SRT's subsidiary company staff are trained and ready to operate the system.
| The direct express rail service linking Suvarnabhumi Airport to downtown Bangkok started its test operations in December last year. The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) is planning to set up its own subsidiary company to serve as the rail operator for the Airport rail link. According to an airrail NEWS source, this to-be-operator is expected to handle both operations and maintenance, however, it is still far from achieving the threshold level of operations and maintainability readiness. |
