Under the pressure from commuters and the press, Dubai Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) is putting all of its efforts into opening the system on the ‘lucky’ day.

But, according the Arabian Business survey, only 10.9% of readers think that the Metro will be ready on time.

Nevertheless 36% of twitter users think well about the system, with 89% positive tweets about the metro stations.

While speculation about how many stations will be ready for the opening day are constantly appearing in the press and among the internet bloggers, RTA refuses to give any details about the real situation.

Last week after inspecting the work progress in a tour to Al Rashidiya, City Center, Union Square, Financial Center, Mall of the Emirates and Jumeirah Lakes metro Stations, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of RTA H.E. Mattar Al Tayer was satisfied with the work progress.
Dubai Metro is Middle East’s first and the longest driverless metro line constructed as one project worldwide. The Red line is 52.1 km long and will connect the city with Dubai International Airport, covering a span of 29 stations.

According to RTA’s poll, 61% of commuters are planning to use Dubai Metro once it’s launched, 21% said they will not be riding the new system while 16% are still not sure about their feelings towards the new development.
