Alstom signs two contracts for Cairo metro system

| The contracts are valued at a total of some €130 million. The contracts concern the second phase of construction of Line 3 (Green Line) of Cairo’s metro system, linking the Abbasiya district with Al-Ahram, a distance of six kilometres. The line will ultimately extend 33 km, from the Cairo Airport to Imbaba. Alstom will provide the Urbalis 200 Train Control system, points machines and station signalling equipment. Alstom’s share of this contract is worth around €25 million. Moreover, as part of another consortium Alstom will design and supply electromechanical systems for the four stations on this section of the line. The value of this contract awarded to the SEP Colas/Alstom is worth around €65 million. |
