Eco-friendly trains for Glasgow Airport Rail Link
|
Scottish Minister of Transport unveiled plans for a new fleet of trains that will offer improved facilities for commuters. The 38 Class 380 electric trains will operate from September next year on ScotRail lines between Glasgow Central Station and Ayrshire, Inverclyde and Renfrewshire and will eventually form part of the Glasgow Airport Rail Link service. |

"For the first time in Scotland in standard class, every seat has access to a 13-amp socket for people who are using their computers or want to charge their mobile phones," said Transport Minister Stewart Stevenson.
Between 50 and 120 additional seats will be available during peak periods on the new service.
Stevenson said it was hoped that the fleet of "eco-friendly" trains would help achieve a reduction in emissions by encouraging people to leave the car at home in favour of "more sustainable forms" of transport.
